The certification process for Léon Mba Libreville International Airport, which began in February 2019, has just been completed. With airport security being utmost important, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has established security standards to certify all international airports. These standards relate to both infrastructure and processes.

International Airport Léon Mba, Libreville, the first gateway to Gabon confirms with these international standards.

As the aerodrome certificate is awarded to the airport operating company, GSEZ Airport, which arrived in October 2018, had to embark on the aerodrome certification process in collaboration with ANAC Gabon.

The issuance of certification to an aerodrome, implies for aircraft operators and other organizations using that aerodrome, that it meets the specifications for installations, technical operation, operating procedures and that it is able to maintain them throughout the duration of the Certificate.

The investment for certification included, among others:

– The fee relating to the Certificate,

– The various staff training

– The upgrading of facilities and infrastructure

– The different studies and designs

The total investment amount is approximately 200 million CFA francs to date.

As certification is a continuous process, it requires permanent investments in order to comply with regulations at all times.

The certificate although issued to the airport, it involved the participation of all airport staff as well as other stakeholders. (ANAC, ASECNA, ONSFAG, GTA, POOL PETROLIER, COMPOL-AE, HPG, CUSTOMS, PAF, AIRLINES, FREIGHT AGENTS, CMU)

Libreville International Airport is the first airport in Central Africa to receive this aerodrome certificate, valid for a period of 3 years, from April 09, 2021 to April 08, 2024.

This certificate is a guarantee of safety for airlines, passengers and partners and reinforces the operational and commercial value of Libreville Airport to all users.
