The main mission of the Ministry of Transport is to implement the government's transport policy.
Under the authority of the Ministry of Transport, the National Agency of Civil Aviation (ANAC) is the competent authority for civil aviation in Gabon; they are responsible for regulation, supervision and control of air transport activities. They are the spokesman for any issue dealing with aviation as it relates to International agencies.
The security of the airport platform is provided by the National Office for Security and Facilitation of Gabonese Airports (ONSFAG).
The Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA) is responsible for ensuring the safety of transport in airspace.
The Air and Border Police (PAF) is in charge of the implementation of immigration policy, and in particular the control of travel documents at the borders.
Within the National Gendarmerie, the Air Transport Group (GTA) is mainly responsible for runway security and the structures built upon the airport zone in general.
The Airport Police Station is a unit of the Police Prefecture which is part of the National Police Force. The mission of the police station is to protect people and property as well as airport security on the city side.
Located in the main hallway of the airport, the First Aid Health Center is managed by the Libreville City Council. Its mission is to provide emergency care for passengers at the airport platform.
This activity cannot be disassociated from the transportation of people and goods, handling is an essential element in airports. At the Libreville Airport, the ground assistance company is Handling Partner Gabon (HPG). Its offices are located in the air terminal and are available to answer any question you may have.
The management of supplying aviation fuel at the airport is covered by the Petroleum Pool, which is a group of petroleum distribution companies in Gabon.

Following Order No. 022/2020/MTEIH of the Minister of Transport, Equipment, Infrastructures and Housing dated March 20, 2020, all passenger flights to and from Libreville airport are suspended since 21st March & until further notice.
Suite à l’Arrêté No. 022/2020/MTEIH du Ministre des Transports, de l’Equipement, des Infrastructures et de l’Habitat en date du 20 mars 2020, tous les vols passagers au départ et à l’arrivée de l’aéroport de Libreville sont suspendus depuis le 21 mars 2020 et jusqu’à nouvel ordre.
